Many of the problems faced by patients result from the lack of communication and misunderstanding created by providers speaking to patients.Greater effort is needed to enable patients to understand what they are being treated for and what the treatment is designed to do.

This is compounded by the diverse backgrounds of patients influenced by ethnicity, culture, religion, age, gender or other demographic elements.
